Most of the ground under Clermont is sand, which matters for a pool dig: Angi prices sand separately from ordinary dirt and rock.

Prices
| Item | Angi |
|---|---|
| National average dig | $2,500 |
| Typical range | $500 to $3,020 |
| Sand | $8 to $40 per cubic yard |
| Dirt | $8 to $25 per cubic yard |
| Hauling (Orlando) | $10 to $30 per cubic yard |
Angi's table puts a 14 by 28 foot pool at 87 cubic yards. At $8 to $40 a yard for sand, that's about $700 to $3,480 to dig, by our arithmetic; Angi notes labor makes up about 80 percent of a typical job.
On a slope
On a hillside lot, the pool usually needs a level pad first, which means grading before the dig. See lot grading.
Florida's pool law
Final inspection of a new home pool requires one of five safety options in Florida Statutes 515.27. Most people think of the fence, which 515.29 sets at a minimum of 4 feet on the outside, with a self-closing, self-latching gate swinging away from the water. The alternatives are a safety cover, loud (85 dB) alarms on house doors and windows facing the pool, doors that close and latch themselves with the release 54 inches or higher, or an in-water alarm meeting ASTM F2208.
